Title: Courage To Stand

Children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king’s palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans. (Daniel 1:4 KJV)
There are things God has placed inside you that will never become evident until you find the courage to step forward. At the beginning of Joshua’s ministry and leadership, the Lord commanded him severally to be strong and be very courageous. God was demanding that because He had deposited that essential ability in him, but Joshua wasn’t tapping into the resource that had been made available for his ministry.
To amount to much in life and in our walk with God, we need boldness and audacity. In our opening text today, we see that part of the criteria for selection in Babylon’s school of wisdom is that they needed to possess the ability to stand in the king’s palace. They needed the confidence, composure and courage to function in an unfamiliar environment without being intimidated by the greatness around them.
When our Lord Jesus was here on earth, people were astonished at his doctrine because He taught with great authority (Mark 1:22). He had no fear and could rebuke the wind, and it obeyed Him. He was not arrogant, but He was confident in who He was and in the authority He carried. He could confront storms, challenge religious hypocrisy and speak truth to powerful people without fear.
The walk of faith requires courage. Abraham had to leave everything and follow God to a place he had never seen. David had to stand before Goliath when everyone else was running away. The three Hebrew children had to stand before Nebuchadnezzar and refuse to bow. Faith will often demand that you stand when everything around you is telling you to retreat. Stand for your faith, stand for your family, stand for righteousness, stand before kings, stand before opportunities that seem bigger than you.
Do not allow intimidation to make you abandon what God has prepared you for. “The people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.” (Daniel 11:32). There is a boldness that comes from knowing God. When you know who sent you, you will not be intimidated by where He sends you. Therefore, step forward and speak with confidence; make that decision and reject timidity.

Let’s thank God for His word today. Let’s ask for courage in our walk with God.
