“Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.” Joshua 1:9 (KJV)
Courage is the willingness to do what is right despite the risks involved. As written in scriptures, Esther was willing to risk her life to save her people. Her words, “If I perish, I perish,” demonstrated her determination to fulfil her assignment despite the danger.
When God commissioned Joshua to lead Israel into the Promised Land, He repeatedly commanded him to be strong and courageous (Joshua 1:6–9). Joshua faced enormous challenges, but God assured him of His presence. This teaches us that true courage is not rooted in our abilities but in our confidence in God.
David also demonstrated courage when he confronted Goliath. While others were terrified by the giant, David remembered God’s past faithfulness and trusted Him for victory (1 Samuel 17:37). His courage came from knowing that the God who had delivered him before was able to deliver him again.
Beloved, fulfilling God’s purpose may require you to step out of your comfort zone, speak the truth, make difficult decisions, or stand firm in your faith. Do not allow fear to prevent you from obeying God. However, remember that courage is not recklessness; it is the willingness to act according to God’s Word and direction, even when the outcome is uncertain.
Prayer Points
Let us thank God for His Word today. Let us ask Him to strengthen our hearts, deliver us from fear, and grant us the courage to obey His instructions and fulfil His purpose for our lives.
