Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you.

Isaiah 41:10

Fear is a natural human reaction, especially when we face uncertainty, danger, or situations beyond our control. Yet throughout the Bible, God repeatedly tells His people, โ€œFear not.โ€ This command is not given because life has no challenges, but because His presence is greater than every challenge we face.

When the children of Israel stood before the Red Sea with the army of Egypt behind them, they were terrified. It looked like the end, but Moses said, โ€œDo not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lordโ€ (Exodus 14:13). What seemed impossible became a testimony when God made a way through the sea.

The disciples also experienced fear during a storm. The waves were strong, and they thought they would perish. But when Jesus spoke, the storm became calm (Mark 4:39โ€“40). The difference was not the absence of the storm, but the presence of Jesus in the boat.

I remember some years ago when I was going through a difficult season in my life. It felt like a storm I could not control. During that time, the Lord reminded me of His word in Isaiah 43:2, that when I pass through the waters, He will be with me. That scripture gave me strength, and since then, whenever fear tries to rise, I take it to God instead of allowing it to take hold of my heart.

Imagine a child walking alone in a dark place. Every sound feels frightening. But the moment the child holds the hand of a parent, the fear begins to fade, even though the surroundings have not changed. The difference is the presence of someone stronger. In the same way, God may not remove every storm immediately, but He promises to be with us in it.

โ€œWhen you pass through the waters, I will be with youโ€ฆ when you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned.โ€ โ€” Isaiah 43:2

Fear loses its power when faith in God grows stronger. You may be worried about the future, your health, your family, or your work, but God already knows what lies ahead. He is not asking you to understand everything; He is asking you to trust Him.

โ€œFor God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.โ€ โ€” 2 Timothy 1:7

What fear am I holding on to instead of trusting God with it?
