One of the defining attributes of light is that it reveals what is hidden in darkness. Darkness can manifest as ignorance — a lack of the knowledge that would otherwise direct our steps, protect our peace, or unlock what has already been given to us. God does not merely dispel darkness for its own sake; He uses light to disclose treasure that was always there, waiting to be uncovered. The treasure was not created by the light; it was already present in the darkness. In the same way, much of what God has provided for us remains hidden from our sight, not because it does not exist, but because we have not yet walked in the revelation that uncovers it.

There is a subtler darkness than open sin — the darkness of an ignorant heart that does not yet know the full extent of what God has provided. A man or woman can not be sincerely devoted to God without knowing that He is truly all-sufficient. Devotion without revelation leaves room for anxiety; devotion joined to revelation produces rest.

Once light reveals this sufficiency, the believer is no longer meant to wrestle with the daily uncertainty of provision or direction. We are invited to lean into the Father’s bosom, the place of intimacy where secrets are shared and the future is disclosed, for He has already declared the end from the beginning. Because of this, He has a great deal to tell us concerning our time on earth — our seasons, our assignments, and our future. The question is not whether He is willing to speak, but whether we have positioned ourselves to hear.

The light of God is not reserved for the pulpit alone. Every believer carries a ministry, whether as an engineer, a doctor, a lawyer, or a governor, and God provides answers to the very problems that plague us in those spheres at different times. We should not relegate prayer to only protection and provision; we should also seek innovation, strategy, and divine answers for the specific problems we face in our vocations.

Light, understood as revelation, comes as a result of fasting undertaken to receive answers, and as a result of the Word of God coming to us — for the entrance of His word gives light. So whenever we pray, we should not merely be speaking; we should be positioning ourselves to hear His response concerning our personal life, our ministry, and everything that concerns us.

“Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy reward.”

Prayer Points

1. Thank God for the light of revelation that uncovers the treasures already stored up for your life.
2. Let light shine over every darkness in your life; ask the Lord to expose whatever ignorance still hinders your walk.
3. Pray that the entrance of God’s word gives you understanding concerning your personal life, your ministry, and your vocation.
4. Ask for divine strategy and innovation for the specific assignment God has placed in your hands.
5. Declare that you will never lose light, and ask the Father to keep you sensitive to His voice.
