“A man’s gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.” Proverbs 18:16 KJV
God did not create us to struggle through life. He has placed within each of us abilities and gifts that are necessary for the fulfilment of His purpose for our lives. Yet, many people struggle because they have failed to look within and discover the gifts God has deposited in them.
The promise of elevation is available to all God’s children, but not everyone experiences it. One reason is that many have neglected God’s pattern for success. When God created Adam, He created him to do a work. The abilities God placed in him were necessary for him to fulfil that assignment. In the same way, God has placed gifts in us that He expects us to use for His purpose.
As long as Adam faithfully performed his assignment, he had access to the provision of the garden. Likewise, when we utilise our gifts to fulfil God’s purpose, we position ourselves to experience His provision and the fullness of the blessings He has made available to us in Christ.
Therefore, instead of spending our lives chasing ambitions that we have created for ourselves, we should seek God and ask: What gifts have You placed in me? What purpose have You called me to fulfil?
Joseph is a powerful example. He did not become prime minister by pursuing a position; he faithfully used the gift God had given him. His ability to interpret dreams, combined with wisdom and diligence, eventually brought him before Pharaoh. Pharaoh recognised the grace upon his life and elevated him to a position of great authority.
When you faithfully use your gift and diligently develop it, God will use people to recognise, recommend, and elevate you. Obscurity is not necessarily permanent for the person who faithfully administers what God has entrusted to him. As you prove diligent with your gift, God can establish you and bring you into the place He has prepared for you.
Do not despise what God has placed in you. Discover your gift. Develop it. Deploy it. Use it for His glory and the fulfilment of His purpose.
Prayer Points
1. Let us thank God for His Word and for the gifts and abilities He has deposited in each of us.
2. Let us ask God to help every member of the Body of Christ discover, develop, and faithfully utilise their gifts.
3. Let us pray for grace to fulfil God’s purpose and not waste the gifts He has entrusted to us.
4. Let us pray that God will connect His children with the right people who will recognise their gifts and help position them for their God-ordained assignments.
