My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness. 2 Corinthians 12:9
Have you ever felt unqualified, inadequate, or unworthy to be used by God? Perhaps you’ve made mistakes, struggled with weaknesses, or failed in ways that make you wonder if God can still use you. The good news is that throughout the Bible, God consistently used imperfect people to accomplish His perfect purposes.
The Bible says, “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us” (2 Corinthians 4:7). God does not choose people because they are perfect; He chooses people who are willing to trust and follow Him.
Consider Moses. When God called him to lead the Israelites out of Egypt, Moses focused on his weaknesses. He felt inadequate and even complained about his speaking ability (Exodus 4:10). Yet God used him mightily to deliver a nation. Moses’ limitations did not stop God’s plan.
Think also of Peter. He boldly declared his loyalty to Jesus but later denied Him three times (Luke 22:54–62). Many people would consider such a failure the end of his ministry. Yet after restoring Peter, Jesus used him to preach powerfully, and thousands came to faith (Acts 2:14–41). In the same way, one mistake, one setback, or even a series of failures does not cancel God’s purpose for your life.
Another powerful example is David. Though he was called a man after God’s own heart, he made serious mistakes. Yet when confronted, he repented sincerely and sought God’s forgiveness (Psalm 51). God continued to work through him because of his humble and repentant heart.
This does not mean God ignores sin or excuses disobedience. Rather, it means His grace is greater than our failures when we genuinely turn to Him. “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9).
As we await the return of Jesus Christ, we must remember that God is still calling ordinary people to serve Him. You do not have to be perfect to be useful; you simply need to be available and willing to let God transform you.
Don’t let your imperfections become an excuse to stay on the sidelines. Bring your weaknesses to God. He specializes in using flawed people to display His glory.
Prayer Points:
- Let’s thank God for his word Let’s thank God that his love and purpose for our lives are not based on our perfection.
- Let’s ask God to use our lives for his glory, despite our weaknesses. Amen!
